Strange Noise

Post by mdgain »

Does anyone know where i can get a new VICS solenoid? Mine is bad and I can't seem to find one at any auto parts stores.

Also, I have a gurgling sound coming from the box underneath/behind the drivers side headlight assembly.

By the way I have a 94 1.6 DOHC and I am new to the site and would appreciate any help you guys could give me.

Is the gurgling sound coming from this (#1 as circled in red)

If so just fill that tank with Antifreeze 50/50 mix to the fill line.

As for the solenoid, did you follow a CEL code to determine that it is bad?

No, its not coming from the radiator over flow tank. Its coming from a black box connected to the air filter box located further down below the overflow tank.

As for the solenoid, I got a code 41 from the ecu. I traced down the VICS solenoid and put an OHM meter on it and it read open.

Any ideas?

thAT WOULD BE THE NOISE RESONINCE CHAMPER FOR THE AIR INTAKE (oops caps) its to quiet down the intake air (EPA noisc Emissions BS) its also a water drian for the intake it has a tiny hole in the bottom of it its probably clogged either pullit out and drain it or disconnect the hose to it i totally got rid of mine (untril i welded up an CAI for it) it sounds better and also more flow its before the filter so it doesnt hurt anything -peace :welder:

you're going to take mudflap's advice and junk the advice?

That's kind of rude, mudflap just wanted to help, if you didn't like the advice, at least don't tell him, "I'm going to JUNK your idea!"

gosh... some people...

SuperK was messing with ya, lol. He knew what you meant, we hope .
But ya, tell us if junking the resonator solved your problem. We like it when people tell us updates if it works. It gives a sense a closure.

OK, I disconnected the resonator, although it did not affect the idle it did seem to make the engine sound better with slightly better throttle response. But that may be me just hoping too hard!
