Can anyone tell me the answer to this question:
I have a 1997 K8-DE MX3 ... why does my fuel cutoff appears at 7200 rpm, instead of the regular 7800 rpm ?
like this ...
mine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZbXM726efw
regular - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLxXehZ-bHU
why is that ? Does the European K8 have something wrong with them ?

Re: Fuel cutoff
I think your tach may be off in the higher rpms.

Re: Fuel cutoff
without cams your not making any power past 6400 rpms, its worthless to go beyond, so even if your fuel cuts off at 7200 vs 7800 your not making any power past 6400 all your doing is increasing the chance of damaging the motor.

Re: Fuel cutoff
OutlaW, it seems you've put two videos of two different model years. The first is yours, model 1994, the second video is model 1991. Difference is 1991's model had K819 engine and 1994's model had K838 engine. It was still K8, but sligthy different for facelifted model, with less hp (4 or 5 hp), but with better fuel economy and torque, plus fuel cut-off went down from 7800 to 7200. There's nothing wrong about your engine, it is just factory tuned for better fuel economy and longetivity.
Wish I had your engine.

Re: Fuel cutoff
My pleasure, OutlaW. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
I forgot about the other difference. Temperature gauge on dashboard - there's difference between 91-93 a post 94 models.
91-93: Normal needle temperature position is 5 degrees above center position.
94+ models: Normal needle temperature position is 5 degrees below center position.
This is according to information from Mazda Czech Republic from 1995. I have a scan somewhere with stamp, this info was only available for service centres.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
