Hatch Shade Install

Post by Denny Gulyas »

Recently I obtained a Corksport rear hatch shade.
To install they supply two-sided sticky rubber tape, four metal u-shaped pieces with screws, and a center support stalk. To say the least, given the aerodynamics of the shade, the metal hold-downs that are stuck to the rubber tape do not hold.
Has anyone successfully installed a hatch shade? If so, how did you do it? I can only imagine at this point that one has to drill holes in the shade to hold the shade onto the metal u-pieces. I hate to do this, but is there an alternative option?
Thanks.....Denny

These are the brackets that where used to hold the original hatch shade.

I may actually still have them (not sure if i threw them out or not). My shade disappeared, which I had suspected to of been stolen while at a friend house, but the brackets were still there.

Wow....

Those are certainly much different then what Corksport provided. I must ask, how do you attach these strips to the shade itself. I can see that the screws hold tight to the hatch itself, but how does they hold onto the shade. Also, if you can find them, would you be willing to sell them to me?
Many thanks for your response....

Basically the bracket holds the shade by going over the top of it and it squeeses it against the hatch. The bolts (not the orignal bolts in the pic, they were rusted out) go on the underside to tighten it down. Like a C-clamp basically.

I was at my grandmothers dropping off the mx but i forgot to check. I'll try to remember to look again today.
