do ebay mx-3 performance chips really work???

Has anyone on here ever bought an mx-3 performance chip off of ebay??? i just bought one that claims it will raise my horse power by 30% and add gas mileage i have not recieved it yet but im hesitant to install it untill i know exactly what im getting into. if you have never installed one for an mx3 specifically dont reply to this post. ive heard that they work on a car by car basis. i have a 1994 1.6 dohc mx3 with a performance intake and bosch spark plugs would any of this help with the chip... cuz i heard sometimes u have to make modifications for it to work...

Buy one from Ryan, aka Probinator. A lot of ebay chips are sh*t. Besides is your ECU even shipable? Ryan will explain it or simple look at my Post on this Post. "What eeprom to change on the K8 ECU"

The Probinator chip is only for the K8. WRAITH, I'm sorry to say, but you just wasted your money. The only way to get power out of a B6 is to turbo it or replace parts from other interchangable engines (miata, 323, caprie). The only thing that chip will probably do is fry your ECU.

Actually the probinator is mostly for ZE's, it's designed for us to have the proper fuel maps AND specifically the proper VRIS points for the curved neck IM. And for much cheaper, being about ~$40 (but you have to install it yourself) rather than $200+ for a ZE ECU

so i guess im pretty much hit than anyway im on a tight budget is there any inexpensive hp gains that i can do myself with out attempting to fry the ecu. im loving this car i just need its bite to be as strong as its bark im guessing witth the intake im pushing 115hp if im lucky can i at least get her up to 150 hp???? how?

The intake did not boost you up to 115, you didn't gain any hp at all, you just gained better throttle response. you might have 106 hp now, lol.

They are all 1.6L DOHC B6 engines.

150hp? lol no. Drop in a BP and you'll have 130. And that 130 will feel heck of alot better than your tired b6. Want more than that? Get ready to drop 1000-2000$ for a turbo.

if your on a tight budget, you should drive it the way it is, and use the money you save on gas to put tworards a new motor or turbo..you would just be wasting money doing anything to the stock 4 banger

so puttin a chip on a b6 is a bad idea than???? damn and i was thinkin of gettin one. but anyway what kind of parts can you get off a 323 or miata for the b6?
