Extra coolant sensor KLDE

Post by Micv »

Hi,

I've just finished my engine swap (k8-klde) everything went okay, and the engine seems to run okay. Haven't taken it for a test drive yet as i am missing some new suspension parts.

But the problem is i have an extra coolant sensor, and no connector on the harness for it. Is this a problem ? I'm using the ecu of the ford probe the engine was pulled from.

You must have a newer MX-3. They did away with the exra sensor so don't worry about it. If this is in an MX-3 how are you using the Probe ECU. I thought that configuration wouldn't work? What VAF are you using

It's the coolant temp sensor, the green plug sensor that triggers radiator fans on K8.

I'm neending that sensor Micv... Would You be interested in selling it?

My mx is a late 94 model but still odb-1. The ecu connections was similar so i'm using the probe ecu and the probe vaf. The engine was originally from a mazda 626.

Remember that this is all EU spec cars if that makes a difference :)

@MX2ak -> If I don't need it we can work something out.

Check the manual, they did away with the extra temp sensor around that time. EU spec??? I'm outta here then. :)

:D What was the original purpose of having 2 sensors that close to eachother ?

EU/e-spec. I don't know if the engines are any different from the a-spec engines, but it seems their are some differences between the cars so i figured that it would be wise to include that info :)

So I should have no problem removing this sensor and replace it with some sort of plug ?

By the way the ekstra sensor is black not green. i've hooked the harness up to the green plug.

Green black, nice to have a choice. I went for black myself. Greens a spare now in my mind.

Actually is the gray plug the one that relays the rad fans. I said green before, sorry.

But they are different NTC's, so carefull not to switch them out

green:

gray/black:

PS. It seems no Probe ECU's uses the green plug. Only a gray/black one since the ECU uses the same sensor for fuel and for relay the fans.
I wonder if the KL/KF gray plug will be interchangeable with K8 :confused2:

Well... it comes out that in fact they (mazda) have switched colors on the 2 workshop manual.

1992 Workshop Manual: Green plug measures engine temp for Fuel and Emissions System

Ain't this weird??

I'm recieving code 69 Cooling Fan Engine Coolant Temperature (ECTF) Sensor(1993) now. This must be because of the missing connector. Also the cooling fan doesn't seem to turn on.
Is there anything i can do except for changing the ecu to a newer (94+) one ?
And is it correct that pre 94 kl ecu's are kl07 (Like the one installed now) and the newer kl ecus are kl89 ?

So why again are you using a Probe ECU and VAF(which is the KL02 right)?

MX3ak: if I can get it off in one piece I'll get back to you and mail it out.

You use your MX-3 ECU and usually the JE50 vaf ONLY. Unless it's a 96 then the KL02 vaf works well with the MX-3 ECU. Use that combination and you'll be ok. Then contact RYAN and buy a chip from him for your ECU aka Probinator on Probe talk. http://www.performanceprobe.com/forum/i ... =15&page=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
