Snapped some pics while the car was up in the air for an oil change.

Re: Some pics of the underbelly MX-3 RS
I spent an hour today looking at the bottom of my car. I was deciphering where I was going to bolt up my under-cover. I'm going to completely cover the undercarriage with lightweight, strong plastic, so it's totally smooth.
Why??
It will increase the aerodynamics, and gas mileage, while creating downforce. My car is going to be just like a desert speed trial car, with rear wheel skirts, and all. My goal is to get 35 MPG in a 13 sec. 1/4 mi. car, while being nice, comfy, and daily driven.

I'm not too sure if plastic would be your best option. You might want to source aluminum.. better heat resistance. If you ever go on a long trip I doubt that plastic would hold up.

Re: Some pics of the underbelly MX-3 RS
Thanks for the input.
It's no ordinary plastic.. It's.. well.. I'm not sure exactly, but I saw it at the place I bought my Poly stuff, and I'm very impressed. It's about 1/4" thick, and is solid on the outsides, and lighter in the middle, kind of like foamcore, but WAY stronger. It's some spaceage stuff, and not cheap. Aluminum would fatigue over time, and stress crack. I'll put up pics, and info when I do it. I'm making all my aero mods out of it.

I know that there are gravel guards for evo's and what not made out of aluminum... They are engine bay only tho. Regarless, sounds cool.
Please post pics as ya go.

Ryan, that would be great.Ryan wrote:If you guys want... I can slam my RS up on my shop hoist, raise it 7' and take a full underbody shot....
Some shots are needed of the front crossmember, check this post for its location: http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.ph ... 60#p469060" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I recommend you take as many pics as possible so it'll be worth your time while it's up there. Maybe when someone asks a question you'll have the pic on hand and all you'll have to do is upload it.

Re: Some pics of the underbelly MX-3 RS
I didn't get to it today. Girlfriend hid the camera. Winter is really a better time for me anyway... I'm gone so much now I don't have time to tinker....
