block/head question

Post by slinkymx3 »

i just picked up my de short block. since i spun a rod bearing in my ze.
i have de heads on my ze block right now the heads have an exhaust port done and thats it. i can get ze heads for 75$ from my friend that doesnt have a car to put them on. my question is should i keep the de heads or get the ze heads ??? or even possibly just get the cams???

on a side question does anyone use the toga hp main/rod bearings for kl series blocks? im looking into these and i wanna know if there worth the money.

get the ZE heads as long as they got the cams and use DE retainers

Some ZE cams are the same as DE cams. ZE heads do flow more.

The ports that mate with the intake manifold are shaped differently.
It all boils down to how much you want to spend and how valuable the difference in power would be to you.

I personaly haven't done any work on my ZE internals but I do remember alot of discussion on head work. Porting and polishing the ZE heads doesn't do mich for power unless yu have some wicked cams for all motor or some seriouse turbo work. polishing the valves is a good idea but they already come with a 3 angle vavle job so there isn't much more you can do their. So my suggestion is valve polish and DE retainers and call it a day unless you are doing some seriouse internal work.

well im going to be using the de short block...a bigger turbo so more boost like 7-8psi...i have both heads sitting in front of me and the de heads have a nice exhaust port so i think im gonna do just a valve polish and a exhaust port with de retainers on the ze heads with the cams of course
