Valve Stem Seal Colour

Post by marcdh »

I'm rebuilding my heads and see there are 2 colours of viton valve stem seal, brown and black. I'm not sure which is intake or exhaust.

Brown Exhaust
Black Intake

or vice versa? I've seached google and here of course even with spelling colour wrongly :P (color) Not sure if there is a standard or if it's manufacturer dependant...

Thought I'd add this for others who may come across this. I checked the workshop manual.
It says intake is grey and exhaust is green..

So I went with what I said before:
grey = intake
brown = exhaust

I also noticed the brown (exhaust) is a tighter fit, which figures :)

**edit - just got word back from fordprobestore.com confirming the above**
