Maybe look at some 323's. I know the basic model in the 80's were manual. And I've seen 90-94 323's at PicknPull. Might be your answer.

Hey, I was going to keep my power steering with my bpt swap, but then I came across this thread on clubprotege, and I think I am going to go this route. http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29778

It is a "how too" on coverting a v6 mx-3 power steering rack to a manual rack. You should be able to do the same procedure on a 4cyl rack, but the v6 one has a 2.7 lock-to-lock versus the 3.1 for the 4cyl. I'll be checking salvage yards soon for v6 mx-3's...

i'm pretty sure either 323 or protege or escort gt racks will bolt in but it isn't that hard taking the GS rack and making it manual I did it and seems to be ok. Ryan took a mx-3 GS one did the mod and put it in his 323 but i think he is using mx-3 control arms also... you should ask him to be sure

I talked to corksport about this. They were pretty sure the tie rods are different on the 323 rack.

the mx-3 might have longer tie rods since they have longer CA's but that would be a nice upgrade when you swap to manual steering

that's what I was thinking... I've driven a CRX that has no power steering and it was alright but the mx-3 is a much bigger car compared to that... sure you might get some very minimal crank gains by not running the PS pump but is it worth it??

The belt is off my pump cause it's trashed & I will not be replacing it. But does anyone know the belt size to drive just the a/c?
