bad grammer and spelled its part of life lol on the internet

Post by SuperK »

Why is it we don't practice simple and practical grammar and spelling here on the forums?
Is it really that hard to push that "." key?
Is it really that hard to throw a comma in once in a while?
Why can't you differentiate your statements with your questions?
Can a single sentence really be 5-8 lines long?
Is it possible one can intelligently write a sentence without using common and oh-so-annoying 'net acronyms?

i member wen i wuld im to my m8s on all teh time we wuldnt use any grammer an super bad speling lol and b4 u kno it rofl i started sayin stuff like dis in reel life and wuz cool yo a kno how u soudn like u never graduated from hs and ure soundin like a perpertaul idiot lol its gr8 ppl make fun of me all the time but it ok lol cuzz i cool yo talkin...

... Is it just me, or is it excruciatingly painful to try and read some of the forum members' posts here?
It's like, I just want to respond, "Hey, we don't allow 13-year-olds post here, bro." to everything they say, repeatedly.

Come on, there was english/grammar class for a reason. I know, that might be a surprise for some folks.

If I were to take the beginning portion of this post and forum-ify ONLY the grammar, it would read as such:
Mr.NoGrammar wrote: why is it we dont practice simple and practical grammar and spelling here on the forums is it really that hard to push the . key is it really that hard to throw a comma in once in a while why cant you differentiate your statements with your questions can a single sentence really be 5 8 lines long
Now let's forum-ify both the grammar and convert it into common 'net lingo:
Mr.Can'tUnderstandMe wrote: y is it u no ez n stuff grammer n spelled n this place lol is rly hard 2 do . key rofl it rly rly hard n use comma here help u kno LOL n teh ? r not teh same as the other thing or something i dunno like its all put together n stuff LMAO u r stupid k stfu

OK I am done, I just had to let that out because I had a bad day. I had a bad day, and I came to this forum and began reading some posts...

... and they made me angry.
So I had to complain.

second that rant ....

Also irritating is that some people come in here and start asking questions right away without any effort at searching......
More irritating is that they start flaming if told to search.....

This video should be made mandatory for every new member and a few old members too.

I really, strongly agree. And not because I'm some kind of grammar Nazi. Yes I know what a dangling participle is. No, I do not expect you to, though I am pleasantly suprised when I find someone else who does. The point is that you sound stupid and lazy when you don't take the time to communicate like a grown up.

Why would I take advice from, or worse yet, do business with someone who either can't be bother to, or does not know how to form a gramatically correct sentence.

Your homies might think you're cool, but the rest of the world thinks you're a retard.

Thanks for starting that rant, it was just what I needed.

There have been some REALLY piss-poor posts happening on the forums... I end up trying my hardest to decipher them out of sport, then I call my roommate and we laugh at the poster together.

With that said, We all enjoy a little flash now and then to prove our point.

did you just start a sentance with 'and'?^^^

I agree with this post, I sometimes find it hard to read when some people post things such as 'ez' and 'ne', followed by more of the same style.

Maybe a 'spell check' button would be a good thing to have.

there are quite alot of forums that have a spell check feature - I would find it useful... alot of times I retype what I have written and I have extra words...

I am a stickler for grammar as well but I've learned to accept it on the forums... not everyone can type let alone spell so some people are doomed for failure

While I am at it... please do not say LOOSE when you LOSE something... I see so many people say that it just drives me crazy :freak:

There, I fixed it. Happy? Maybe I should start a thread about Forum Nazi's.

I would also love to point out that the latest installment of Firefox 2 has an amazing spell check feature.

With that note, jamesmx3, you misspelled "sentence".
