running lean still, grrr...

Post by se7en »

what the hell, I installed my 190lph fuel pump, and it still runs lean in third gear at 7psi....

why isn't this thing getting enough fuel? I have the 220cc,190lpr,FMU. on a k8

I should think that this should be enough.

maybe the fuel filter is clogged? injectors are bad?? any other ideas?

You need millenia injectors mang, i had blue tops from a klze, walbro , afpr, fmu and i was running lean.

ya hec, except I am running the k8, not the ZE :)

I should think that half the engine wouldn't require the 280cc.

k8boosted said that he had my setup, and it wasn't running lean at all, all the way up to max boost.....

maybe I have a tuning problem or something....

How good is the O2 sensor?
Are you running your AFR gauge off of your narrowband o2 sensor?

Yea good call, if you are running a AF gauge off your narrowbands then that is not at all a good way to keep an eye on things, please tell me your running a WB02

If you don't have an AFPR (adjustable fuel pressure regulator) maybe that will make the difference.
I know my stock fuel regulator did not like the high flow fuel pump.

Well I did run an 8:1 fmu vs your 12:1 fmu
My AFPR was an ebay special. with shipping it was like $30.
worked fine for me, I made darn sure it had no leaks before
ever driving the car.
I never had a wideband guage so I honestly couldn't tell you if
I was leaning out or to rich. The narrow band was fairly useless.

I've been stripping the mx-3 of all that is boost related. I'm thinking
of getting another mx-3 and dropping a KLDE into it. there very cheap
at the local pick and pull.

well, I think that is a great idea. the mx-3 community needs you!! :)

I will have to look into the 8:1 disc.

can I convert my 12:1 into an 8:1 with a disc or something like that?

I will look into a cheapy afpr for now maybe.....

thanks for all the help andy.

ya hec, now I remember, I always forget that you have a counterfeit ze :P

ya, that is what I will try next. new calibration kit for vortech(8:1) and an AFPR. Also, I will try changing my fuel filter.

I hope that works.

I have a 255 lph pump vs your 190 lph pump.
According to what I thought, the 12:1 FMU should
create more fuel pressure than my 8:1. 12:1 means that the
FMU will raise the fuel pressure 12psi for every pound of boost.
My 8:1 FMU will cause you to run more lean.
I highly doubt the fuel filter will help.
An afpr would be a good addition and give you more control
of the fuel pressure.
