Turbo rebuild question

Post by hgallegos915 »

Ok this goes to all the turbo gods.

Ok I opened the turbo and heres what I found... the shaft is clean clean..no wear at all. The bearings are not scracthed and look new (turbo was in use for a week) The Dynamic oil (at the intake wheel housing )was leaking. The seal itself looks new.. how can this be??? Also the dynamic oil seal at the exhaust wheel was leaking.. it also looks new.. was it just cheap seals??

Im sending the assembly today off to ron(dude who I got the kit from)
for balancing.

It seems that the oil housing is a genuine garret housing, according to a local shop.

Basically what was wrong with this turbo was the seals...

Oh the rubber seal was half melted..

Did my seals go bad because of excessive oil pressure?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
