since mx-3's never came with keyless entry it must be an aftermartket unit.

If you know what unit it is or can put up a pic of the remote maybe one of us can help you

I'm not sure what brand or model unit that remote is from. If nobody else does, just pop off the dash bezel below the steering wheel, and look for the control module. It should have a few wiring harnesss plugged into it, most likely it'll be black. You'll have to look up the model number and find an installation manual, where it'll tell you how to program the remote. Most different brands have a different sequence for programming.

Cool. You got an Audiovox Prestige alarm system. Couple years old but not a bad system if properly installed.

1.First thing I would check is the battery - put a new one in. Then see if it works

2. I beleive the model number is APS400. Can check the Audiovox Website for a manual (http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... &langId=-1)

3. Check your car for a valet switch. Turn the car to the ignition 'on' position(without the car on) then toggle the switch one way or the other. If the LED is on solid you are in valet mode and you alarm won't work. If it turns off then you have successfully turned off valet mode and can now use your alarm.

Check to see if the alarm is still powered on. Might have a blown fuse or just not connected.

might be another model (aps500 or aps600).

Good luck and let us know how you make out

I think his problem was that the remote isn't programmed to the module.

these things stay programmed so it's most likely a battery or brain (no power)

see a ton of these things in the past year or so. Never needed to program one to fix it unless the owner got a brand new remote for it. And if he needs to program it I have given him a link to the user and install manuals.

So If that doesn't work you can also call audiovox and they will fax you instructions on how to program the unit - they are really amazing at there support
