I cant tell you Which wires are different.. I can tell you there is at least one difference. The miata's were a distributorless engine.. relying on coilpacks for ignition.. as such the system needed and had a crank position sensor which our B6 engines didnt have.

The earlier B6 Miata engines had disties... I don't know what year they switched, but they haven't always been distyless.

Thats weird Pat.. cause napa showed distributorless for the B6 in the miata from its production beginning. I'll be heading to my mazda dealer later this week and I will ask them. Doesnt mean Napa's books are correct.. wouldnt be the first time a automotive manual was wrong

In fact.. just now on http://www.napaonline.com when looking up ignition parts for a 1990 Miata.. they dont list a distributor and for a coil they show this..

They also list crankshaft sensors for them as well.
