Crankshaft position sensor

Post by Kveite »

Hi

I am doing a swap from a k8 to a KLDE. The k8 being a -93 and the DE unknown.

The odd difference is that the k8 has a crankshaft position sensor, but the DE doesn't. There is only a plug/cap fitted as it was original from mazda..

Should I just move over the sensor and everything will work fine?

What does the DE have as a substitute to the sensor?

I will be using the wiring from the k8.

The crank position sensor gets its reading off the back of the crank pulley. So if you are still able to locate your crank sensor in the appropriate spot, which you say you can since there is just a cap there. Than use your k8 crank pulley, you should be good to go.

Looking for another Red GS.

I guess I'll just put it on and think it would work as I am using the same wiring and ecu as with the k8 with the sensor... (though chipped with a probenator)

The crank pully is the same from the K8 and the DE in my case, with the same kind of teeth (5 or 6 in some sorth of a wave form).
I am wondering why there is no sensor on the DE? And what did it have instead...
