12.9 @ 114.97

Post by hppwdn »

12.9 @ 114.97

~270whp for that run on street tires. Once I can get consistent 12s on street tires I'll try the slicks. Until then I'm not upping the boost.

For those that are interested the other lane was an 05+ modded GTO. I raced him three times. Awesome races every time. And the boosted KL whizzed by right about 1000ft each race.

Sorry for the lack of video. I never remember to bring the camera.

That pass was 12psi on an 8.5:1 engine. I ran a 13.1@108 on 8psi with the boost controller turned off. The 12.9 pass is just getting started. It was my first trip to the track on 12psi, and my third trip since I put the car back together. This low compression motor on 12psi makes a little less power than my ZE did on 10psi, but it does seem to handle it much better.

The motor is Matt Maas' motor that he made 504whp on. It'll hold 30psi. I'm not upping the boost for a couple months. I'm bringing it up slowly until my driving skills get back in line. Been a long time since I raced on a regular basis.

Here's a pic of the engine with the red VCs. I have some silver vein ones I like a lot better. Yes, I know it's blurry. I'll get some good pics eventually.

The car will be at myrtle madness. Hopefully with a special surprise some people saw me walking around with last year.

Yes, I have a custom IM, it's not on at the moment. Still needs some custom work with the fuel rails. I plan on having it on for Myrtle Madness in november.
Tires are 225/50/15s.

I got the intercooler from a guy that had a 2JZ swapped SC300 that went back to stock when he sold it. I believe the measurements are 15Hx24Wx3D. Something in that range.

Try to get that 60ft down to about 1.7sec....I think you will need to invest in slicks

Wow, there's been quite a few replies since I last looked at this post.

Never ran it like that. I lived too far from the track. I live closer now. I thought about making it all motor for a few weeks to see what it would do. The lack of power all motor would really help with traction.
rekognize wrote:What kind of rims? offset? did you need to use spacers? I really like em
Konig Minuz. 15"x6.5" +40 or +38 offset. No spacers. With the 6.5" rim I had just enough space to fit the 225/50/15s under the strut perch. Had it been a 7" rim I woulda been outta luck.
smallblockman69 wrote:wow awesome mph... you need to work on your 60 foot... if you get that down that thing should be in the Mid 11's
I usually get 2.1/2.2 on street tires. In my old probe I got consistent 2.0s. In a fwd car it's pretty hard to do better than a 2.0 on street tires. Plus trapping 115 I was spinning most of second and some of third. 115 is mid 11s in a car with traction, but a fwd turbo car doesn't get the type of traction it takes to run mid 11s with a trap that low. At least not on street tires.

I have slicks, I just never use them. I have a lot of goals I want to get with street tires. Plus I've already been towed home from the track once from breaking an axle. I'm kinda weary to bring my slicks out there and risk breaking the tranmission.
