Question regarding NEW STRUTS

Post by Bling Bling »

Seeing as I an going to replace the springs and struts with Eibach Pro's and KYB GR2 struts...want to know the BEST place to buy upper strut mounts and for the BEST price? Please let me know. I live in CANADA so ... STATES shipping would cost me more ... therefore Canadian places would be preffered. Thanks

I got upper strut mounts from Lordco and they were for a zx2, cost me around 100$ for all 4 IIRC. If you want, I can dig out the reciepts and look..

Well, the mounts are exactly the same and so is the thrust bearing. The ONLY difference with the zx2 setup is the top perch (round metal cup that the spring rests in) as the hole is round, but that is not part of the mount you are buying.

The reason being that the roads around here SUCK. Same with all approaches, driveways, etc. Plus my Drift front is really low now and going with Eibach's/Zx2's would lower my car even MORE than using the KYB's. If I had a different front end for sure I would have. The springs/struts came to $650 Canadian.

I realize taking approaches carefully and at the right angles helps but the Degree of Incline on them is dodgee. I have issues with some now. The factory struts were all toast and going with the least ammount of drop + the KYB's should give me the 1.3"/1" I want.

Also wanted to know...what SHOULD I order for the top of each strut? I can't find "thrust bearing" in the shop manual.

Not sure if they are broken as I don't have them apart yet. I was led to beleive that the top of the struts should be wapped out because of age...should I even if they are ok?

His car is in very good shape, but I can almost guarentee that the mounts have accumulated some rust.. I would go for new mounts, makes a difference IMO
