Need Help Fast (no start)

Post by lowridah313 »

So I just swap the wifes auto trans in her 94 GS. I get everything buttoned back up, and now the car wont start. It has power(battery), it has fuel, but it wont turn over, as in the starter doesnt crank. So I swapped starters today, still no luck. If anyone has any input I'd like to hear it, Ill try anything to fix it.

you swaped trans? did you swap to a manual or another automatic...

if manual... you have to trick the ecu to think its in part or neutural....

if automatic.... make sure you have thoes wires hooked up

Checked the starter its fine. I have power to it. All plugs and wires are hooked up, gonna jump the park/neutral switch to see if its bad. Thanks everyone.

I just wanna thank everyone for your help in solving my problem. It turns out that the starter was not self grounding on the transmission itself. So I ran a wire with a ring terminal on either end from one of the starter mount bolts to the chassis ground(same as the battery) she fired up like a champ! So yet again thanks to all(especialy Tunes67)

hmmz..i'm curious to how the starter wasn't grounding. once its bolted to the trans it should be grounded. wierd.

Personally John I'm not conserned about that anymore, as weird as it is. I'm just happy it runs and drives. We figure that there had to have been something inbetween the starter and the trans stopping it from grounding. You think i would have seen something when I put the trans in, or when I changed out the starter. bah ohwell problem solved.
