I've done the HEI mod and installed a coil... it works, but dont even know if it's a 6 or 12V... I've just picked one at scrapyard that looked allright...
Anyway...should we...must we... install 6V coils or 12V ?

Definitely 12V. You wont find a 6V system in any modern day car for the most part.. thats back from days gone by or very weird specialty stuff.. nothing in mass production.. at least to my knowledge. Cheers
