High RPM???

Post by Matrix733 »

Hello all, i have a 93 mx3 1.8l v6 gs. I replaced the engine with a jdm k8 and got the ecu for that engine as well. The car runs great but the rpms at certain speed worries me that the engine/gear ratio may need some work. I installed a new clutch when the engine was replaced.

It idles at approx 700-800 Rpms which seems normal to me. The thing is at 60 mph its at 3000rpm, 70 mph @ 3600 and 80mph @ 4100 . Is this normal.

Its almost like I have to change gears quicker due to the higher RPMS, I have not driven this car in about 3 years till now so maybe i need to get use to it.

thanks

What ever motor you put into the car, your speed@rpms dosn't change; unless you change tranny as well to one with longer gears, but just the motor, no, doesn't change anything.

Myself at 4000rpms, I'm at ~120km/h, which is roughly 75mph.
