Cam shaft pos. sensor
ok well from what ive read previously, if this sensor is nfg then the car will not start, but mine does. takes a few seconds to start but does start. could it be as simple as the timing, not sure if that would throw a code or not, i do have code 4. this is the last error i've got.

Well a lot of people with ignition module problems get the cam position sensor code i think. You can try the HEI mod or time for another disty.

from my "searching", most people have had code 3, not so much code 4, and I'm even more confused now about this sensor then I was before. It seems that every one says that the cam position sensor is the crank angle sensor? Well I'm gonna attempt the hei this weekend and see if it clears this up. I'll use my old disty and hope for the best.

umm how could the cam sensor and crank sensor be the same.... just doesnt make sense.. i just replaced my crank sensor, and it was located bottom front left of engine, which kinda made sense cause of thats where the crank shaft is ,,, and not on the top like the cams...
i dunno maybe its just me... umm no

They do the same basic job, but for different functions of the ECU. The cars ECU does't acutally know the difference in the two as they get the same type signal and for the same type reading. They are both needed and why Mazda decided to use two sensors I cannot answer. It is like, why have 3 water temp sensors. Each sends the same signal, but for different functions, but I would think that one would do the job just fine...
