Excessive brake dust 1 side
Excessive brake dust 1 side
my driver side wheel rim has noticeably more dust than the passenger front after one day of driving. i have not worked on the brakes for at least 6 months.
i do hear a little noise while driving and braking but there is no pulling while driving. Some pulling during high speed driving, but could be alignment.
what can I look for? outer pads seem to be fine. Gas mileage is same as it has been for a long time.
thanks

Make sure both sides have the brake pad return springs in place. Forget the exact name (maybe "K" springs). Has the caliper slide h/w been cleaned and lubed when the latest pads were installed? Might have a caliper hanging up a bit. Is the pad wear even on both wheels when comparing outbd-to-outbd and inbd-to-inbd pads from each wheel?

yah check out the caliper sliders, these style of front brakes tend to seize up. Pull out the slider, and rubber , and put lots of slide glyde(brake lube) on them

it doesnt matter if its new or 5 years old, if you installed it, did you lubricate the sliders? all it takes is a bit of rust and the caliper goes from a free floating caliper to one thats is stiff and wont slide.
Nothing is wrong with the caliper, if its that new,
