B6T help

Post by Campbell* »

Sorry but I keep finding mixed answers about this swap and I need someone to clear it up.

I'll fill you in on the story. I have a 92 mx-3 that comes with the 1.6 sohc. I bought a b6t and Im swapping it in. Now Iv swapped almost everything. I put the b6t wiring harness and ecu in. I decided agaisnt using the b6t tranny since it involved pedal fabrication because of the cable clutch so I used the g-series tranny I had lying around from a protege LX since it uses the hydro clutch. Then I bought a new flywheel and exedy clutch. So the motor and tranny are just about ready to be joined together.

1. I read somewheres that the g-series tranny won't work, is this true?
2. I went to put the motor in using the stock mounts from the sohc but it didn't seem to fit, am I supposed to use the 1.6 DOHC mounts or BP mounts? Do I need to get all four mounts or will the sohc mounts work on the tranny?

From my knowledge, you need the tranny mounts from the protege for the tranny to mount in the engine bay. You can use the engine mount from the 1.6(which is the one on the left if your in front of car). To useG series tranny with the b6t you need the 1.8L or protege flywheel and clutch kit. It will bolt right up. The G-series mounts you must use plus the axles too. You need front and rear tranny mount plus the mount on top of tranny.

if you're using a G-series tranny, wouldn't you need a protege flywheel and clutch?

And i think you need to modify the halfshafts if you use the G-series tranny. Not sure though. What I AM sure about is that most of this information IS on this forum, and that if you searched you'd find it.

ok in order to swap in the b6t you need to swap the pass side mount between the sohc and the b6t and then to use the pro lx tranny you need to use the pro lx trans mount.
