Help using mutimeter

I have blown a speaker and fuse, I was installing my OEM tape deck into my mx-3 and touched the ground(black) to a speaker wire and I fried my deck and blew a speaker (i think) and a fuse, so I chaged the fuse, and now I need to test the speakers to see if that is my problem
I installed a old jensen cd deck and it turns on for a split second and then off then on again in a looop, probably because a speaker is kaput and I dont know what to look for when using my multimeter
things I need to know are what setting should I set my (analog)multimeter to test and what readings should look like for speakers that work/arent working anymore
My multi meter has a dial in the middle and has these settings:
DCV*500

I have a feeling I need to test with DCV but still not sure if DCA is what shoul be testing on and what setting within the DC should be set at

If you want to test if the speaker is still ok - you need to check the resistance of the speaker (OHM setting in the multimeter). It should read about 4 - 8 ohms i think. Basically it reads zero then there is a short and if it reads nothing or really high resistance value (like 10 mega ohms) then there is a open circuit somewhere.

Also analog meters have a weird scale where it might read zero only when the needle goes all the way to the right - be aware of that.
