There's only 2 options (that i'm aware of) for the K8. The Quaiff LSD, which runs for around $1500US, or the Phantom Grip Conversion Kit, which *I think* runs for about $500-$600
There is the MazdaSpeed Protégé LSD, but that works only with the taller 4.11:1 gearboxes (the stock Mx-3/Probe is 4.38:1) from the MX-6/626 (or custom with the Escort ZX2 gearset). Although they are interchangable, I dont think anyone has done it on the 1.8, ususally swaps in a 2.5 at the same time

there is also a jdm only factory option lsd tranny. Only issue there though is you must have custom axles made.

The MSP LSD has been used in the GS trans...Gro_Harlem did it a few years ago, as i'm sure a few others have too. It fits all G-series transmissions.
I have one in my Probe GT trans for my ZE...

Yes, but he's also swapped to the Escort ZX2 gearset. I'm farily sure I was told by him that it only works in 4.11:1 g-series, as well as a few others who have said the same thing.Mazdaracer wrote:The MSP LSD has been used in the GS trans...Gro_Harlem did it a few years ago, as i'm sure a few others have too. Call around all the importers to find one, they are rare but available. I have 2 of them. One installed in the car and one chillin in the hatch of my parts car. And no they are not for sale, they're all mine. The found the first one first place I called, the second one took me bout a month to locate. Getting properly fit shafts for it is a pain in the a-- though. Drivers side axle needs to be bout 1/4" longer than stock. Also when stuff breaks, no one has parts for it.zCat wrote:Yea. When you find that transmission, let me know, because I will kill you in your sleep for it.ruthless_mx3 wrote:there is also a jdm only factory option lsd tranny. If I did it again I would just use a domestic tranny with a quaife lsd put into it. Easier to source parts and then you have the option of either long or short ratio gearing instead of just the short ratio trans. The protege mazdaspeed unit is, as mentioned, another option and cheapest, but I believe it is a 2way diff. I would consider selling my setup, but I would want way more money than anyone would be willing to pay. It cost me a fortune to get it all fit and working. I would have to sell my trans and shafts together as a set. The shafts are worthless w/o the tranny and the tranny is worthless w/o the shafts. Or you could just kill me in my sleep and take it all.
PS: Try Nagano Japanese, they treated me well and had very fast shipping. It was in my possession 3days from when I ordered it.
