Replaced head, now I have noisy valves

Post by lennyseleven »

I had my warped head shaved down and just reinstalled and got the car running yesterday. The valves are quite noisy now, do I need to change the shims because the head was shaved or is this caused by somethign else?

thanks
Nick

Might be a shot in the dark, but did the 92-93 sohc engines have a valve adjustment? If so, then adjust the valves.

It has self adjusting hydraulinc lifters. Mine does the same thing. I checked out a local Mazda dealer and the lifters cost about USD40.00.................each. I think the engine has 16 lifters.
