tranny question

Post by lv2xlr8 »

Hey guys, question on my tranny.

1st gear is strong, when I throw it in to 2nd it lags badly almost like im riding the clutch. Then 3rd through 5th is fine. The guy i got the car from said he had threw out the first tranny and had another installed with app. 100k miles on it. Is this just a characteristic of the tranny, or could there be something wrong with it or the install?

If it wasnt for 2nd gear, the car feels like it do some decent runs for what it is.

maybe your shifting too soon or something. i dont know if this helps its just an idea but maybe the timing is off or something like that.

the idle is rough sometimes, im not sure if its timing or a bad oxygen sensor

its your power system, everyone has the same problem just do like i told you. you can also try playing with your idle screw. and im sure all this power idle problem occurs when you have an electrical load on right? like lights or especially a/c

no, it does it even if its just idling with no radio or anything, and sometimes it stumbles or hesitates when taking off from a stop. thats why i thought of the oxygen sensor

yeah i bet its probably a crack in one of the vacuum lines, did you put on a cold air intake? if you did check the passage on the bigger hose that connects to the intake from the block.

no holes in the intake. I checked and even went ahead and replaced the hose, and it still does it. its not the alt either, I had it checked

thats gutta be a tranny/clutch/flywheel problem one of the 3 if its lagging. when you drive, when you drive you power the alt. and battery so it cant be anything really elevtrical or a vacuum line since it still works in certain gear....so probably one of those problems
