How many kilometers would 10mpg be?
The DOHC really is a lean burn motor though, something has to be out of whack for you to get that low of milage. What all reguluar maintecene items have been done in the last 50k KM or so.

Anything over 87 octane is overkill for the RS DOHC?Darcy wrote:How many liters does 300km use?
Automatic or manual?
Check your alignment, maybe try changing your brand of fuel (anything more than regular 87 octane is overkill for our cars)
Try accelerating a bit easier. Driving habits affect mileage big time.
Nay, not so methinks.
I have been running my 1998 RS DOHC on Super Unleaded - 97 RON fuel since shortly after I bought it in November 2004.
Initially I used ordinary unleaded.
Then switched, just to see if there would be a difference.
There was - and has been since.
The engine ran smoother, quieter, and I got a quicker acceleration response. Oh, and my MPG did go up noticeably.
If I run normal fuel, I get less.
Recent figures (today actually) - for 40 litres of Shell V-Power Fuel (99 RON), I got 362KM out of my MX-3. That is with NO motorway / Highway driving, all city driving, and occasionally, giving it a bit of a thrashing when road conditions permit.
Don't forget the differences between liquid measures in the UK and the rest of the world, but I believe, nay, know that my MX-3 benefits from high octane fuels.

1998 MX-3 RS 1.6i DOHC "Blackbird". Totally Stock.
