The 2nd gen RX-7 vaf is bigger flows better than both the sohc and protege vaf. Other people have mention it RX-7 vaf upgrade i don't know why u keep going back to the protege vaf. damnit read

a RX-7 vaf for 10$ thats a steal i get if for that price make sure its a vaf looks like the sohc vaf only bigger. careful they also come with a maf but that won't plug up to ur MX-3.

Umm yeah.

Thats usually how it works.

And its not necessarily BETTER flow, but MORE flow.

Some people associate MORE with BETTER.

only in the top end but ur not making enought power on notice anything. on the BP swap i did i did notice a slight differnce i ran a 15.6@87 with just a intake rx-7 maf act perssure plate stock disc and a cheap muffler and a UDP not bad for what it had. with drag radials.
