Another Full coil-over suspension for the MX-3

Post by projectmx »

I just found out a company called Ellis Engineering makes a full coil-over kit for the mx-3 (really for the 91-94 protege but same thing) I'm waiting on prices and specs but it is is height and dampening adjustable and the stuff on their site looked nice... we'll see though i'll post again as soon as i have some more info

Sounds awesome, hopefully they work and are reasonably priced.

Just got another email from them... doesn't include camber plates sadly but still that isn't a bad price
__________________________________________________________

These are full true coil-overs. The strut body is threaded. The ride height adjustment is performed with the strut mounted on the car. The adjustment of the damping of the strut is done with the strut mounted on the car. The coil-over package does not include the camber plates. We do however sell camber plates. The struts can be valved to the customers needs.
The springs are 350lb and 450lb rates. The struts are made right here in our factory by Ellis Engineering. The cost is $875.90 for four complete coil-overs.

Sincerely,

Steven K. Ellis

That is a decent price and good spring rates, but only for racing. Try riding on 450 lb springs and you'll loose your fillings if you have any.

which rate is which? front/rear

how about a website URL, cause it's not ellisengineering.com or some pics...?

and again, it's 90-94 ;) it's common for 99% of companies to get that wrong.

yup, my Protege has 500# springs and it was no fun as a DD.

If they make everything in-house, I wonder if they could get specific spring rates per your request. That's def. not a bad price for a full coilover setup though.
KLZE/KL31 ecu/Pacesetter headers/track pipe cat delete/2.5 inch custom exhaust out to fart pipe/warm air intake for now :(/Fidanza 9lbs flywheel/Stage 2 kevlar road racing clutch which still slips/stock wheels/BFG KDW-2 tires. Looks bone stock ;)
