[WTB] Windshield

Post by Spinkx79 »

I parked my car on Friday went camping for the weekend and to my supprise this morning, theres an 8 inch crack running from the top to the middle of the glass. And of course, no one knows anything and no one drove it even though its in a different spot from where i parked it

I called around and $210+tax is the best i could get so far.

Anyhoo if anyone has or knows where i can get one, it would be greatly appreciated.

lol that sucks man :P
But I got one from my 93 (guess its a RS) if it matters at all. I'm not too sure what it takes to get one out, but I can see what I can do, I think a friends dad does this kinda stuff. Email me if you still interested. We can work with prices and pics there.

If you were closer , I would go get one at A yard with you , all you need is a razorblade a piano wire and some patience , It would cost you 30 bucks for the winshield and about 15 bucks for the urethane kit to reinstall it , Takes about 2 - 2 1/2 hours both ways ..

I faintly remember taking a windsheild out in Auto Shop, I do remember all the sticky gooey crap. A piano wire? Hmm. Just poke a hole, feed the wire through and shimmy?

How do you...or Do you need to take all the old crap off before you put new stuff on?

1 more...Is it a snug fit, or can it be put in crooked?

Thanks

what you need is a guitar string, perferably the D string, get it in there and saw back and forth, you will need 2 people, after a few hours you will make it all the way around, DO NOT try to remove the window without first going ALL the way around, (your going to scratch the paint around the window no matter what you do.

carefully push the window out.

and there ya go, now take a sharp knife blade and cut off ALL the old sealent,

when putting the new window back in, make sure you use poper window sealent, not stuff you can get from the local department store. you need to get it from a window repair shop. its usualy around 15 bucks a tube, and chances are you will need 2 tubes.
