What too look for when buying a MX-3

Post by piggy »

Hey everyone I'm looking into making the MX-3 my first car.

Can someone help me on some important questions I should ask the seller. Okay bascially what I need to know to determine if the MX-3 is good?

I found a yellow 2 tone paint 92' MX-3. The seller told me he replaced the engine but didn't specifiy if its the V6 (I didn't know at the time about the 4I). The new engine has 60Ks on it. Other than that I don't know much about the car. The exterior looks pretty new besides the front bumped scratched and worn because of his suspension, but he said he'll include 2 other new bumpers. And same goes for the interior, looks decent.

I told him I wanted to take it to the garage this coming Saturday to check it out.

Sorry about the long post. Can anyone here help me determine if this is a good pick?

His asking price was $4000

Yes id find out if any upgrades were done to the car. generally 4000 is a good price but you may be able to get yours a lil cheaper if no upgrades...check it out.. good luck

Ok thanks for the replies so far. I've talked to the seller and I learned

-Replacement V6 has ran 60k
-The old 4I had 190K on it
-He's including 2 extra front bumpers (the one that's on now is worn out)
-Including the orginal spoiler, it has a carbon fiber one right now
-Suspension lowered
-New breakpads
-No CD/Cassette player or anything like that
anything else i should ask about? was there any known problems with the 92' mx-3? any help at all is appreciated.

I'd prefer to buy a car with no upgrades.

9 times out of 10 a car with "upgrades" had the s--- driven out of it and may be in disrepair from strenuous driving.
