Upcoming aftermarket parts

Post by OutlaW »

Hi gang... i have a few doubt's on what company's afetrmarket parts to use on my 100% stock mx-3 1.8 V6

I have these ideias , in order to beggin saving euros :help: :

OBX-r headers
OBX-r highflow cat
OBX-r final exhaust

Some nice sparkplug's
Some nice sparkplug wires
Bored out TB
head work done to both heads ( the car has 2 motor heads right ? )
Superchip
Ractive Intake ( with home made tubes to scoop out air from the front of the car)

Am i going the right way ?
What kind of numbers should i expect with this material ?
150 bhp ?
180 bhp ?

a little pacience with this clumsy portuguese :)

exhaust is always a good point to start on the 1.8. Headers, hi flow cat and rear box will see a good gain in bhp.

air fliter and cold air intake is another good upgrade, spark plugs, spark leads again will make the car more responsive.

better fuel pump, injectors, bored out throttle body, will again make a good gain, but you will need the the ecu piggy back chipped to make the make the most out of all your mods.

i wouldnt go for head work unless you know someone that was willing to do it cheap/favour. I just think it will be alot of time and money for such a small gain. Better off waiting until you need to get to the heads i.e headgasket changes.

if we were taking bets i would go for 147bhp.

as for suppliers, there are some german companys on ebay that make the headers, but i have know idea where anything else could come from apart from the u.s.

good luck :D

I got a set of PRD sparkplugwires in the original packaging laying about.
Not sure why, but they sent me an extra set, so I can sell it for $60 plus shipping, wich should be a very decent price.

Don't do the Superchip, they don't give any HP and are way too expensive.
The headers and cold air intake will help the most.
Fuel pump and injectors will not help AT ALL since the car already run rich when you push the throttle all the way down. You would just drown the car in gas.
I would suggest looking into a KL-ZE or KL-DE swap for more power then the headers and intake will give.

An interesting option compared to standard chiptuning, is the Dastek Unichip.
This is installed into the car, and tuned on a rolling dyno for your car, not a general chip for the Mx3 but tuned to your car and your mods.

Other options is of course Megasquirt wich does the same, and probably lots more.

These can also be used on a KLDE and KLZE without problems, only minor adjustments and tuning involved.

PATDIESEL , that is true. But here in Portugal i cant seem to find the KL-ZE

Do you have access to them easy ?
If you do, on the long run i will order one from you.

headers will be a waste of money if i get the engine, so it is going to be one of the last part's.
