Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake intsall
ahh my new toy in the mail! seems like not many on this board use this intake so i decided to test it out... this is how the install went.
Well first you start out with your engine bay (breather and front air box has already been removed)
We removed everything pertaining to the air intake
The instructions were veauge to say the least, and the order on some of the steps didnt make sense, like hooking up the 15mm air hose to the idle.. probably shoudl have been done before we hooked the pipe up

I had a problem with the hose kinking, since it had to do a mojor loop around to fit, so i ended up useing a peice of the original idle hose, the L-shaped part with the adapter on one end to make the last bit of turn. its not that hard to figure out

then the small vacume hose that went to the front of the stock airbox ends up behind the intake manifold, turns out they barely give you enough hose to make the reach. You have to snake it under the throttle body a certian way to make it fit, keep trying it eventually will work

unfortunetly the kit didnt come with more than one 2.5-3 inch connectors, so the MAF fits loosely
PS this kit also comes with the adapter to use the old style MAF. at no additional costs so you SOHC guys will be ok too.

just clamp the connectors down, it will work, i unfortunetly went to autozone to get 2 new 2.5-3 connectors and it turns out that if you use these, the extra 2 or so inches of the stepdowns on the connectors puts your filter into the radiator SO DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! use what they give you

as for the bracket, dont use the screw they gave you, mazda put the front air box one in handy position! just take one of the rubber grommets on your stock airbox, put it over the mounting point and use the stock nut to tighten it down.

also, the large wire that connected to the airbox up to the bumper (airbags i think) is easily dissconnected and routed through the bumper and around to the side

tada! all done.
the system is great, really gives the car greater response and a great tone. the 200 price tag is a little up there but you get what you pay for with the nice filter, and stainless everything! Also a recent magazine article placed the secret weapon intake as the best flowing intake on the market... cant beat that.
one downside is that since this intake is made for the MX-6 and ford escort, its a little generic. its a tight fit, and i had to take out my battery tie down to put the pipe in. i am htinking about just relocateing the battery to the trunk. also some might find it helpful to cut an inch or less off the front of the pipe to get a little more room with the filter.
all in all a great product.
