Oil Light

Post by illapino »

My oil light is on and a pre-purchase report stated that there was no engine oil in the vehicle. So I've filled it with 5W30, I must confess a little above the full line, and the oil light is still on. Now I've been told that the oil light doesn't detect the quantity of oil: it measures its pressure.

How do I make the oil light go away?
Does this involve the word Oil Pump and money money money?

Well the first and relatively easy thing to do is - change the oil pressure sender. It might have caked on oil blocking it from doing its job.

Yawn's Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Er Ello, your prepurchase report stated that there was no oil in the car
Hmm hello I would'nt be buying said car little bell's would be ringing as
to where the hell the oil had got to!

Right to access the oil pump, the engine has to be fully removed,
as its a intergral part of the front crankshaft thrust cover!

( read ENGINE REBUILD COST'S )

from memory the oil pump light comes on at less than 5PSI ?
however if the sender has been disconected the oil light will glow.

Wowww! OMG, this must be the first car you've owned? It would be an excellent idea to get ahold of the owners manual and go through it completely to get a rough feel for what the MX is all about......as a starter. All of the dash instrument lights will glow when the key is turned to the accessory position just before engine start. BTW, welcome to MX-3.com.

Please note I didn't say FARK. My words were changed by admin.

However your reference to this site being a c--- stands. You work it out because this site has lost it.
