v6 o2 sensor?

Post by ho bag »

Went looking for a new o2 sensor....well i guess i gotta replace both. But no one list them, they say i gotta goto mazda for one...

Well i dont feel like taking that shot in the a-- so i need to know if the stock o2 sensor is just a standard 4 wire o2 sensor. if so what is stoping me from getting a for dranger o2 sensor for $40 and soldering the stock pigtail to it?

All sounds too easy to me, On my old talon i just got a ranger sensor, it was standard 4 wire. Cut of the stock connector and soldered on the talon connector and it worked mint!

I say, Ahmed. What is that thing you do when you're about to assassinate an infidel?

Good pull up of old thread. I picked up O2's from the links that Spinkx79 has. Pretty inexpensive at about $30.cdn each. from Florida supplier.

Thanks guy, that confirmed my suspicions. Basically any 4 wire sensor will work provided you do a proper job of cutting and soldering on the old pigtail.

I used a 93 Ford Probe V6 sensor. Same exact as the MX3 V6 sensor, except the wire colors are different. Was $50 US at local parts store for a Bosch.

I think the ranger sensor is teh same as well....

For that matter im willing to be that 90% of all o2 sensors are the same.

I think all 4-wires are essentially the same. I know the voltage at operationg temp will read the same. The only thing I can think MIGHT be different would possibly be the optimal temperature for the sensors. I know different cars have different EGT's.
