NGK Plug Wires - Shorter K8 wires or long KL wires?

Post by Spinkx79 »

I am in need of some new plug wires, I am going to buy NGK's the question is:

I have a K8 in now, with a KL to go in. IIRC the lengths of the KL wires are longer because they need to stretch farther in the bigger Probe and MX-6 engine bays. Do you guys with ZE or DE's in MX-3's buy the K8 wires or the KL wires?

Thanks

I have the KL wires on my DE..... you can run them very neat and out of the way, while the k8 wires have to go straight over the IM and looks messy ,imo

if there is any performance difference in the length of the wire,(i think there was a thread on this a while back) it would never be even close to noticable, so go with the clean look, nice long kl wires :D

k8 wires will work just as good, except they look like poop...they have to go all the way acoss the top of the intake manifold. If buying new ones anyways, just get the KL ones

I agree. KLDE wires look best. You can get them to look good on any K-series engine. But the K8 wires look like crap unless you're running the K8 intake manifold with the factory wire retainer clips still on it. Not to mention 99% of the time KL wires are cheaper.

Here's my "crappy looking K8 wires" :P

Unfortunately I didn't think about that the wires are different on the KL-DE. But they work very well, so no need to change them. :)

So, when shopping around, I just have to ask for Probe GT or MX6 wires to fit around my KLZE?

$55 for generic, $75 for Bosch, and $78 for NGK. I believe you have to call that place for delivery in Canada before placing order.

Great prices but, they "no longer ship to Canada". What's up with that? We're almost on the other side of the lake!
