Front Swaybar (Feeler)
Front Swaybar (Feeler)
I`m in contact with Corksport about getting some front swaybars for the Mx3.
Here`s the mail I got from them today:
'I have looked into getting some swaybars built in the past for the Mx3. We could offer one but I would need to have a few of them ordered up at once to get a run done. Know of anyone else who would want one?
Thanks
Derrick'
So, how many would be actually interested in this?
Gro, Babyblue, jschrauwen, I guess you would be?
This is just a feeler to get this rolling, and I hope you are as anxious as I am about getting more decent suspension goodies for our car.

Just FYI upgrading the front sway bar without a pretty major upgrade on the rear will only cause MORE understeer...
White Line was the one who told me this after inquiring about them making one for the front to compliment the rear they make. They told me their rear is engineered to compliment the GS front already.

ZE -strait neck,headers,2.5 exhaust,pheno spacers,lower cross member,GC coils,MS struts,Brembo slotted rotors,filled MS mounts,SS brake/clutch lines, CAI,to rear bat reloc,Hella headlamps,Hella DE fogs 180WHP
I know, but I got about every upgrade for the suspension, and when it was snow here, the car was pretty hard to drive.
The rear end was all over the place at times.
And there is a reason Mazdaspeed made a front sway bar.
I for one would definitely be glad for less bodyroll, and a more neutral handling in the winter
Got another email now, and this is what Derrick says:
'Hello,
Well a guess would be in the 190-200 range with end links and other hardware.
Thanks
Derrick '

Hmm, I'm interested, I just don't want to add understeer.

There is and old trick to improve the handling used by a lot of mazda racers going back to the 323 Cup series and still used by Protege racer up until the introduction of the BK. That is to just disconnect the front anti roll bar all together or some have made compressable end links. I disconnected the front anti roll bar a few years ago which yielded a couple extra point of the G-pad. As a general rule to achieve that greatest handling with any of the 323 based cars including the mazda BF to BJ, CA & CB & EC chassis (plus US & Au Escort/ Laser/ Lynx and Kia Sephia) Lower the car no more than 1.2" front springs 275-325lb/ rear 450-700lb. Front anti-roll bar none to 20mm/ rear anti-roll 22/24mm solid bar. Note that dampers must be able to control the compression and rebound of the springs. Sub frame connectors and Gacchiri bars are also offer a big increase in chassis ridgity if the class of racing allow them.Nd4SpdSe wrote:Hmm, I'm interested, I just don't want to add understeer.

i might be intrested in the front bar. i got a 323 GTR Solid rear bar for my rear end 20mm i think i will have to look again. a front would be nice but i dont think its as nessasary, i think the V6 guys would benifit from it more.

i would like a front bar. id rather dial out understeer by picking stiffer rear spring rates to help the rear rotate rather than unhook the front bar.
im sure many people in the past unhooked the front bar but it was probably due to the limited availability of suspension tuning parts. it seems more of a bandaid rather than a fix

Taking a look today i believe that Mx3 folks can use 2nd gen protege front sway bars 24-24.5mm range by just changing the endlinks.
not only is it apparent that the subframe is nearly if not identical to BG chassis, with what appears to be 95+ mx3 LCA's added on.
Its worth the time to investigate it, with dual heimjoints i know its fully feasible to make it work. if anyone wants to spend less money go try this.
