protoge lsd fits?

Post by fieromx3 »

i was on modifiedmazda.com for my first time and jaydogon there said an alternative way for a lsd is a mazdaspeed lsd. does this mean a protege lsd will fit the mx-3? or would u be better off and spend a grand more for a quaife?

yes the msp lsd will fit with minor modding IIRC, but it's not strong at all. The guys over protege forums breaks them on their stock cars.
If you have to weld something on it so it can hold better.
I am not a tranny/lsd guy at all meaning I don't know shat about it.
Ask Gro, that's the one he has installed

on the other hand, if you get the quaife, you know you have the best out there, and IIRC it has a liftetime warranty on it

I can't justifly the cost of the quaif diff...

Ive got the Mazspeed like gro, except ive drilled it
for 5/16 aircraft bolts in between the original rivets.

The gear is harden but the lsd housing is just cast steel
yes i think it will probably break in the long run and i might
have to by a quaif, but for the cost of a quaif i can blow away
a few mazspeeds first.

^^ I agree. I got the MSP LSD as well. and you can litterally get 3 MSP LSDs for the price of one quaiffe.

Wow, I wasn't aware that so many Mx-3'ers did this mod, which actually give me confidence that it shouldn't be a problem installing it.
