Post by 93-Spec-Edn »

Ok so after all teh hastle i just bought a used disty from a26 and it works fine. I put it on in the same place as the old one approximately and the car runs smooth and fast. Do I need to retime?
Will i damage the engine?
Thanks

ps. Does anyone have a pic of where i aim a timing light?

Are you really 75 years old and don't know how to use a timing light?
You should set the timing. It is most likely off by a degree or two which won't hurt the car, but will decrease fuel economy and add carbon build-up. Also, you should know how to time a motor so it is good practice.
Buy a timing gun at AutoZone, Napa or some place like that. You need the more expensive kind (I cannot remember what it is called). Then follow the directions on the online shop manual to set the timing.
