Car has crappy stereo install, can't find stock harness

Post by Rotorhead87 »

When I got this car, it had ultra cheap stereo with a crappy install job. I got a new stereo and went to install it, and I can't find the stock harness to connect up the new stereo. Where could it be? I looked all around behind the unit and don't see it tucked anywhere. Is there any way I could trace it from somewhere?

I'd guess the harness has ben cut off when the crappy stereo was installed, is your new stereo an OE unit? cos you could go to a wreckers an get a harness from (most) early 90's Mazdas, otherwise just wire it up from the bare wires, there are wiring diagrams on here, and probably in the online manual too

Well, he totally bipassed the stock harness. Ran all new stereo wires, and a wire straight from the battery to the stereo, so I thought he had left the harness alone. I dug around more today and found that the dumbass cut the stock harness off anyway. I already pulled the harness from a '93 GS.
