Stonechip Solutions
Stonechip Solutions
I have the typical few stonechips around the front and one on the sunroof, they're starting to rust so was wondering if any of you guys have come up with solutions other than respray touch ups. In the past I've had cars with chips and matched the colour as best I could and then with a fine tipped camel art brush 'dropped' paint into the chip and the results have'nt been half bad- not perfect of course which is why I'm posting this.

for small stone chips i just put some factory match paint in there, let it dry and then LIGHTLY sand the area with some 2000 grit sandpaper, using soapy water to help lubercate the sandpapaer...
then get some really good polish (meguiers (sp?)) perferably the liquid stuff. and pollish the area, then get some good wax (turtle wax) and wax the area (or the whole car)
Worked PERFECTLY for me!
Hope this helps,

Bockeck probably has the most effective...depending on how big they are you could either do what he did, or try this.
Uno those things that save your holes or reinforce them in loose leaf paper?
Well...
1) take some of those, and go around your car and mark the chips with them...(after cleaning it of course)
2) take a tooth pick and dab it into the paint that you will be buying or already have...making sure you dont' have to much, tap the chip with the paint covered tip of the tooth pic...what shoudl happen is the little dab of paint will slide into the chip. Make sure not to use to much paint, or it won't work...
3)let dry, and repeat until the chip is flled level to the rest of the paint...if its not, sand and polish.
