Is the price right?

Post by mx32b »

I'm looking at buying a 92 mx-3 GS, fully loaded. It's got 156k km on it and its in real good condition. I had a mechanic friend of mine look it over and he said that its got the usual wear that a car ten years old should have, anything that needs to be fixed is minor ie. two back tires will need to be replaced eventually, very small rust dots where there were some rock chips, etc. He said that if I can get it for the right price then its a good car to buy.
Anyway, the price is advertised as $8000 CDN, I offered $7000 and he says he wont go lower then $7500. What should I do?
BTW this is in Calgary.

i suggest you that you take 2 days off and come to toronto and buy one eh! might cost ya like 200 bucks and you can rent a car for a day and check out as many ones as you like, 45 available( last time i checked and i saw one, 94 gs manual white full loaded only 4500 and as many added stuff as you can imagine for this much money,180 Ks though and no rust!!!) At least here you have many more choices than calgary i believe!
just a usefull thought! :)

I would look around a little more, you should be able to find a cheaper one. I think that is a little too expensive for a 1992 model.

Damn Calgary market... all the mx-3's that are selling for less than $7000 are junkers with 200,000+ km on them. A 93 with 110,000km on it is advertised (just north of calgary) for $10,750!! I thought $7000 would be a decent price given what other cars are selling for:
93 with 227000km on it for $6995
92 with 250000km on it for $6900
Cheapest one advertised is a 92 auto with 180000km on it for $5900
This is insane!
So having had a taste of some comparative shopping, should I still rule this one out as too expencive?

personally i think 7500$ for a '92 is quite a bit, i paid 10,000$ for a '96 GS last year and it was in immaculate condition with power sunroof, windows and cruise control.... i think u should keep on lookin!
just my opinion though
