Car DVD player install help please

Post by kevio180 »

Hi there,

I have been busy with school and didn't really open the system I bought until now. And I'm kinda stuck on how to install it.

Fist of all, it has a square connecter clip thing, 4 wires, Ground, +12V Remote out, ACC +12V and Back up 12V

Am I missing somthing?, Its the same ones on the screen as well, well it all has the video input and white and red audio ones and some other plugs for other things.

But I don't see anything that connects to speakers on the stock clips.

Am I suppose to connect it to something else? Or thats what it suppose to be like?

thanks

Complete custom job done by yours truely...well, I used desktop components and have upgraded all the parts (joy of using desktop parts) since I started the project 3 years ago...but because of the variety of parts available, nowadays, I just say;

Price of a computer you would like + 15" LCD + A/C inverter + cables = $$$

Most of my parts are over a year old, with the exception of the LCD and the 160GB hard drive I put in this year...so most i cannot get you prices, and I can't really remember, the video card is 2 years old. But considering, about $2000... the monitor was (Canadian prices) $700 with the custom trouchscreen overlay, payed $300 (got raped in brokerage fees) for the 250w DC-DC power supply cause the computer was too much for the inverter after doing some upgrades, the system became unstable, probably because of the power requirement. 160gb hard drive is worth what, $100, DVD/CD-RW drives are about $50. Lol, Athlon 2500+, Micro ATX motherboard and 2x256MB of DDR probably does for $100 on ebay as a combo. I picked up a Hercules Game Theater XP used for $80 which I haven't installed yet. the 800w A/C inverter at Canadian Tire is like $100 now. AIW 7500's are $60 on ebay with remote. So it all depends on what you want.

You can also get smaller pc's, build ones based off the ITX form factor, use shuttle PC's or cappuccino's. There are a few other carpc mx-3'ers...look into Barry's (Custommx-3) setup, he's using portable components...but that I can saw, I'm old scool and like upgradability.

LOL, ya, cause it is, just modified into a car :)
But honnestly, 3.5 years ago, this market barely exist, and it was way cheaper to go this way...as compared to back then, it cost me less for the basic CarPC I built back then (just a Duron 750, 256MB RAM, 10gb hard drive using onboard video and sound) was, and it was the same speed but upgradable. The thing that hit me, the only LCD that would do VGA back then was the Xenarcs, which was over $1000 for a 7", while I got just a desktop 15" LCD for less $500. It made complete sence back then, but not necessary these days. But if you have any questions, PM me or post a thread...I've got this carpc stuff down to a science ;)
