rear spindle

Post by silveroak »

hi all,
I've been reading the forums since I registered, but this is the first post
Here is the situation: lost control on wet road avoiding an SUV heading straight for my passenger side, spun, hit the curb hard with driver side, went over, drove away.

the place where I normally do repairs said that I've bent the rear driver side spindle and its a rare part; they couldn't find it quickly through their normal sources including junkyards, and since the car can be driven maybe I can find it myself. The car is out of alignment and I've been told there is no point to do it unless that part is replaced.

maybe someone could point me to a place online that could have this part. Ebay does not seem to have any.

mx-3 is my second car and the first that I feel is worth working on, apologies if I am not very technical.

its a 1993 1.6 with drums in the back

thanks.

that's too bad I had an old set that I threw out cause I switched to disc brakes. All MX3 with drum rear brakes will have the same rear spindel but if you can't find any MX3 at the wreckers look for a ford escort with rear drum brakes around the same year. Pretty sure they are the same

All you have to do is switch to disc brakes. All you do is replace the whole spindle, caliper, rotor, ebrake lines. It's really easy to do. And guess what? Any Protege from 90-94 will work. I know you'll be able to find those at the junkyards.
