O2 sensors...4 wire or 3 wire uni's?

Post by Spinkx79 »

I have had bad O2's for a long time and finally ordered some. I wasnt sure if i needed 4 wire, 3 wires or both (universals) so i bought 4 of each.

They came in today.

Anyone know off the top of their head which would be better? I believe the 4th wire is only a second heated wire.

My car is OBDII (96 GS)

Thanks

You got 4 of them Eric? Sh*t, I've only got 2 in mine (4 wire type). Can't really say if the OBD II changed over to a different config. I remember seeing a thread about some members integrating the universal units to our cars including the correct colour code assignments. I thought you were going to go Wideband?
Have you started to assemble the "Super DE"?

Basically ya, to get them upto temperature faster to give the ECU a proper reading. Mine were 4 wires, and so were my stock ones...i spliced the wires from the new 02 sensors and cut off and used the connectors from the stock sensors do they'll just clip right in

:werd: As I understand it, 4-wire type for the GS and 3-wire type for the RS.

Good  Just match up the wire colors or is there another trick to it? Where is a good place to buy? Are the Bosh units any good?

Being from the Us, this might be the best/least expensive source.
Nopi Online - http://www.nopionline.com/nopistore/dsp ... N=35613893

973+0269 is the universal replacement for us. A search will reveal that I posted a number part numbers from Nopi Online wrt interchangability and compatibility with the MX6/626 O2's.
I wish we could get that sort of pricing up here. Usually 2 to 3 times more expensive before exchange rate and after all of the middleman's hands get a piece of it.

$42.87usd is pretty damn cheap if you ask me. Good luck.

Eric, does your OBD II utilize the 3 wire and if so I'll buy the 4 wire ones off you. I think the 3 wire ones can also be rigged to work on the 4 wire applications (OBD I) also IIRC.

John,

Why would you want the 4 wire ones, you dont drive your car in the winter so the second heated wire would be of no benefit to you...IIRC

I havent had a chance to check which ones i need or will be using.
