What is the smallest size turbo that can work with a KLZE?
(looking for low-end power)
I once heard a DSM turbo from 90s late model Eclipses and Talons could probably work with a KLZE. However, wouldnt the turbo be too small espically since were talking about a V6 here (KLZE)?
Would it matter how much more cylinders a engine has for a turbo?
I hear the turbo piping for a turboed DSM is 2inches (from http://www.dsmtalk.com) which is about 50-51mm. That is 10-9mm smaller then the stock ThrottleBody on a KLZE.
So I guess its not possible to put a DSM turbo on a KLZE because the diameter of the piping is smaller then the diameter of the TB?
Is there a way around this?
Like, have the 2 inch piping going into the intercooler and have 2.5inch piping coming out
SEE PICTURE
Can this work?
Do you guys think its a stupid idea to put a DSM turbo on a KLZE?
Any small turbos you guys want to suggest?

By the way, incase you guys are wondering, I dont want a SuperCharger
Reason I am looking for a turbo setup instead is because I know I can setup a custom turbokit for myself for very cheap espcially seeing how used DSM turbos can be found for very cheap.
Not only that, I hear those DSM turbos can hit up to 14PSI of boost
In case you have noticed, I am a noob to turbos

Yea, well there are two types of DSM turbos, the first and second gens has tdo5h's which are slightley smaller then the 3rd gens t25's. They can both handle about 15-16 psi of boost. I have seen a ZE run on a T25 and it actually runs well at 5-6 psi.*EDIT* Contrary to popular beliefe that it will "choke out".

well as I have seen on Oscar's car (klze T25), it IS choking and isn't making power at all at higher rpms (see is dyno graph)solo_ryder wrote:Yea, well there are two types of DSM turbos, the first and second gens has tdo5h's which are slightley smaller then the 3rd gens t25's. When should I expect boost from one of those turbos?nos92mx3 wrote:run a decently sized t3/t4.
If you could get your hand on one from a v6 turbo pontiac (3.1 litre) youd be set.

Stay away from the real small turbos.
Contrary to popular belief, even with a large turbo you'll have more bottom end than n/a, more daily driving power etc.
A 14b or T3 would be a decent choice, I mean it basically depends on what you can get your hands on and for what price.
Even with boost at 3k, it will still peak out at 5500 or so. So even if you have boost down there, it wont do you as much good as it does up top. This is mainly indicative of the head and cam profiles.

$50-150 is a reasonable price for one that is in good shape and doesnt need a rebuild.
Check other forums (saab, volvo, turbo mustang, 300zx, etc) and local junkyards.
May want to stay away from ebay but there are some decent units on there. Generally youll pay too much and the turbo will need a rebuild. you dont want someone else's junk
