My MX-ZE Reborn!!

Post by Gro Harlem »

I won it....kinda highish price but it looks mint as hell & the guy said it has "no dents or dings, just paint chips". I aksed if it had peeling of paint or fading "nope" or ANY rust "nope" & he sent me pics of the strut-towers w/out me even asking...and indeed even the strut mounts aren't rusted.

Anyways here is my reasoning:

1: Current car is in good shape, but still not MINT like I want.
---Paintjob still not to my liking. Its nice & even, but has too much orange peel for me to be "satisfied with it"
---Paintjob still needed on door jambs, underside of doors & hatch & hood & sides of fenders (only visible when u open hood).
---Even if i painted the doorjambs, if i ever want to remove interior panels, it'll expose RED...the direct contrast of dark green :-/...
---THUS being anal as hell about my car, for it to be "perfect" it wouldh ave to be entirely painted one color (other than red b/c i hate red).

2: Getting my current car in the condition I want would cost $5000-15000 dollars. The only way it could be "perfect" would be if the following were done:
---Entier car gutted (including engine/interior) down to unibody
---Entire 3 prior coats of paint removed via sandblasting
---Entier car bondo'd & smoothed out perfect
---Entire car repainted in most likely titanium or charcoal grey color, OR a bright blue color

3: My current trans has a cracked housing so I already need to semi-remove the engine and swap in my new LSD one SO here are the perks with instead...just swapping engine/trans with this car:
---Saves work that i'd have to do anyways....+ allows me to open up this K8 and figure out whats wrong & hopefully fix it so it runs
---Allows me to get both cars running w/out messed up trans's (my old cracked trans will be left behind..i already have a LSD transmission BUILT and ready to install).
---This car has working A/C, mine leaked out when I painted the engine bay this past winter so it needs a recharge...so...my car will have a/c again for free!

4: I will likely not lose any money out of it at all. I'm going to create 2 cars out of both of my cars:

Green 93' GS
-Will keep its MS front end & paintjob & fuba antenna mods
-Will have a K8 with stock transmision & clutch (he said its a new clutch so kew)
-Will have stock suspension with stock rims
-Will have stock exhaust, intake, and TAN interior, but will keep the indiglo custom gauges and indiglo HVAC panel & likely my MSP short-shifter w/shiftboot & leather shiftknob

Gold 92' GS'
-Will keep its stock front bumper for NOW. OEM skirts painted gold will be immediately installed. I will either put a new MS bumper on it or get a diff front end, but this will probably be next summer.
-Will have 16" gunmetal rota rims, lowered 2", and my black supra-style taillights, clear corners & clear reflectors on side of teh bumper, JDM headlights also swapped over
-MIGHT get a oem cf hood in the future for further gold/black contrasting
-Will get the entire MINT AS FAWK Leather 93' SE interior I have which includes brand new rear & front seats & used-but-exc-condition side panels, 1000% black
-Entier KLZE setup, including headers & exhaust, clutch, axles will be swapped over
-all brand-spankin-new brakes will be swapped as well

SO yeah..thats my reasoning, I'm prolly missing something here, so if u have questions ask (but doubt anyone gives a crap anyways) but anyways, if u suddenly see my car magically change color again, this is why.

On another note...color.....i had been "thinking about" getting a mint-body MX for awhile now so I can do exactly what I outlined above BUT....i'll list the problem:

1: MX-3's, at least near MD are almost always 4 bangers, and of the GS"s that are sold most are automatics OR heavily modified & go for 3000+ on ebay
2: MX-3's = rare as ballz in united states anyways. Fewere mx's were sold in USA than in Canada so go figure
3: MX-3's are typically in pretty shitty condition, at least the ones that are being sold, so buying a "mint" one like I required was already proving difficult.
4: My first choice for color was laguna blue, which only came in 94 GS models which area lso the most rare model year GS. Thus making my selection damn-near impossible. My next choice would be white (more common) followed by either gold or black (not sure which), then teal, and NOT red lol..unless 1000% mint, then i MIGHT have bought another red one. BTW Gold only came on 92 model year GS's...its a pretty rare color. I've only seen STEEB as being the only person who ever "hooked up" a gold MX-3.

So anyways, if anyone even wants my green MX when i swap all this crap over, we can chat. Let it be known that I AM WILLING to put a 2.5 KLDE or KLZE into it for a very cheap price IF u wanted my old car. Unfurtnately i wouldn't consider selling the car with any of the parts I want to swap UNLESS you offered me pretty much what I paid for the stuff (brakes were like $300 for example, new calipers, rotors, race-pads & ss lines). So yea....lol...oh and my interior isn't for sale, sorry :-/ But seriously if anyone would want my old car (nothing is wrong with it other than what i said above) IM me and I'll lay out anything u want to know. The body is fine its just the orange-peely paint that I dislike. If ur less anal than me, it'll be a nice-to-have car, seeing how its got a custom paintjob & front mazdaspeed bumper
