DEB
So true Deb. Unfortunately, it appears most people in the GTA area expect someone else to do all or most of the work and aren't really willing to do what's necessary to have such an event. I believe this has been the norm for the most part this past year. All it took last weekend was a commitment from a couple of peeps and then additional support from others just naturally followed up. On short notice we had an 8 or 9 car gathering and a short road ride/cruise. It's completely possible guys. Post that your going to do a survey saturday morning for the event (perhaps someone will even join in to help in that too) and that you'll post later in the day the specific details. It's not going to be handed to you on a silver platter. Someone has to get off of their butts and put a few hours worth of time into it. If those aren't willing to do that than perhaps they never really wanted to participate that much in the first place. Your only going to get out of it what you put into it. The choice is yours guys. We have a contact list making available members phone numbers - USE IT!!!!!
I'll probably be in Burlington visiting family so I was planning to attend anyway. The weather looks to be fantastic. How many regretted not showing up at last weekends get together???

kp2t wrote:well my area has nice curvy roads, but Dave and Busters is in Vaughan
Then your area would be perfect for us. Since you're right there why not do a survey for one?
Trevor wrote:Well why don't we do john's idea on Sun then go to Dave and Busters for some food and fun?
Another excellent suggestion!!!
fieromx3 wrote:i agree we should make it a full days event/meet whatever u wanna say. just go for a long drive and stop off at diff places and finally end up at D&B. that would be a great day!
Excellent, then why not give Krish a hand and give him a call saturday morning and get together to survey a route.
kp2t wrote:I am game but I need help with the area... JOHN I NEED GUIDANCE FOR THIS ONE :)
I already gave it to you. You got a car, get some maps, paper, pencil and you're on your way. What more do you need?
kp2t wrote:Where IS Mike for this one... I don't know the routes.. GPS GPS GPS ! :)
I believe Mike works Saturdays and Sundays and GPS is not a necessity at all. How can you not know any routes ...you live there ... be creative, explore!!!! Who knows what you might stumble upon on your survey.

I think Deb is right.... We cant plan such an event in a night... I think a date should be set....

As you sugguested John, In the new year we could have a nice big cruise....

Remember the ottawa meet was well planned it took weeks of back and forth post to make that a successs and that was planned well in advance...

For a nice 3-4 hour drive it needs to be well planned well surveyed.... Main point it cant be done in a day...

But with all the effort we can put forth we all can find places together and get a good route to make a successful day trip like the RX-7 clubs Ottawa/Quebec route... We have nice roads for example the Niagra Escartment... Very nice road...

I really cant get all that covered in a day guys... I'd like to find gas stations, restaurants, even some scavenger hunts would be great....

The Ideas are nice. Its something we could build on but it will take more then a week....

Steve, sounds like they're all deserting you. Steph's car is gone, Eric is selling his. There's Kevin "Ovendenk", and "Overclock" and at least 3 or 4 more that post on here from time to time. I'm surprised you guys never even planned a small get together in Gatineau Park this past year.

Like I said more than once, just a couple of hours today of plotting out a simple route was all that's necessary. Not days or weeks. I made no mention of an event on the same scale as Ottawa and know full well what would be entailed in something like that. Why do people make mountains out of molehills? An individual could do almost 80% of it using maps of a specific area plot a course or two and do it right from there home and just do a couple hours drive to confirm it. What is so difficult here? I could probably do that 80% here myself but don't have the luxury of having those specific maps those of you can get quite easily. Where's Ian, Uday, Gabor, Rtt, Mellissa, fieromx3 and the rest on this? Time's a wasting, don't loose it, JUST DO IT!

It's not that easy John, not even for me with all my software. Maps don't denounce road type, stop signs, and all the fun stuff, they just say how to get from point A to point B, and if you've never taken it, how would you know? Especially if the roads are more likely going to be in the ouskirts/country, roads are long and distances are far, it could be quite time consuming to plot out a path or even possible options would take hours. If it takes you an hour to scout out a path, guarantee it would take you half the time once the cruise is going, what would make a very short cruise. The problems are also, the starting point and ending points, consideirng where all people come from around the GTA.

Absolutely right, how the story changed from D&B to a cruise. For more than 2.5 days interest was limp at best with no one coming to grips on specifics what so ever. I threw out there a viable alternative that could also be tied into ending up at D&B and give something of interest to do at the same time. The response was much better and much quicker when i recommended Sunday. As it was, it clearly looked like no one could or would make a decision one way or the other. When I layed out what was necessary to accomplish the ride, there were no takers. Guaranteed, that had I drove down early this morning, I could have layed out a complete route and done all that's required and I'm pretty darn sure that the lurkers would have been jumping in, left, right and centre. There has been no road ride organized by anyone this past year and I guess it was a mistake on my part to believe that something like that would change. It doesn't take a lot - 2 to 3 hours this afternon would have been all that's necessary. All I saw was more excuses of why it couldn't be done rather than just plain trying it and IF, perhaps IF, after that, it still didn't pan out, at least the effort was made. And one cannot ask for any more than that. The way I see it, if I don't personally do it, it may never happen. I'd love for someone to prove me wrong.
Rant over - another event failure - what's new?

No matter, is it rain's tomorrow like it's suppose to, a cruise wouldn't of been a good idea anyway.

My attendance is only pending if I have plans with the girl or not cause honnestly, I just can't pass those up.

Planing routes, I would probably be more than willing to just for an excuse to drive, especially on a nice day, but when you work until 6, the last thing you wanna do is go drive around aimlessly for 2-3 hours.
