13.2 @ 99, 13.25 @ 107

Post by rebel2k4 »

So i got in some higher boost runs. All of which were 13's.

My 2 best of the evening were what is now in my sig.

13.25 @ 107, which was a 2.15 60', and 12 psi boost. The clutch started slipping when I powershifted 3rd, and continued to do so.

My final run was a 13.203 @ 99. This was a 2.15 60' as well. Why the low trap? Well, it was my last run, I got ancy, cranked the timing, and detonated damn near the whole way down the track. Toward the end, the car started losing power, I got scared, and backed out. That was an EASY 12.8 or so @ ~110 had I kept through it. Oh well, there's always later.

This was at 5900 feet elevation, where Z06 corvettes and dodge vipers run low 14's.

Thanks guys. We are planning another trip next wednesday. I am getting a little worried that I might break something, I am down in that territory now, and I have to drive there. The strip is 100 miles away, and after yesterdays track visit, the axles have been making some noise, I did like five 2.1 60's :)

Anyhow, the tranny is a PGT tranny. For safety, I welded the diff pin in place. It is still an open diff, but it gives added security that the pin will not fail and destroy your tranny.

However, I still spin one tire, so I may try welding a diff if I ever break this one.

I am using the reman axles that came in the car, both have broken boots but have taken some mad abuse, so I will keep them...

As for HP/TQ, I have not gotten back to the dyno. With the cars weight and a 108 mph trap, its safe to assume I'm around 350 whp/wtq.I dont think i can squeeze much more out, this turbo has a standard T3 exhaust wheel which isnt even supposed to flow the power I have now.

I don't think 4 more pounds of boost is going to make nearly 100 extra HP, do you Rebel? Maybe a bit excited on that estimate...
Awesome times though, with good timing and stuff your going to be super fast 8) 8) 8)
Get a LSD and some slicks and your going to be comp fast... Geezzz, wish I had a turbo

Possibly not, but I will put my reasoning behind it... I would actually hope its less so that theres more room to improve.

My 268.95 whp pull read 8 psi on my boost guage. Well turns out, my boost gauge is 1.5 psi high verified through megasquirt.

So the 268.95 whp pull was actually a 6.5 psi boost pull. It was also off the chart rich, terrible tuning. On a DE intake manifold and stock injectors/ecu

Since then, I have megasquirt tuned a bit better, a millenia intake mani, no VAF, and I was actually running a solid 14 psi at the strip.

So, perhaps it may be lower 300's, I actually hope so, but who knows. I may not dyno until I get a new turbo and finish building my engine.

This turbo kit I have now may go up for sale. The turbo is in excellent shape and it is a great kit. People at lower elevations would scream with this kit. Considering lots of you guys can run 14's all motor, that was what I was running boosted at first. All motor, I'd be lucky to get into the 15's with a KLDE.

Since someone called me out, here are the slips.

Image[/img]

If you look there, you'll see that the left run (my final run) WAS a 12 second pass. I let off after the 1000 ft mark and rolled the rest of the way, the car was detonating bad and I didnt wanna break this motor just yet. Compared to my other 13.4 @ 107.8 you can see everything was about 3/10'ths faster, and I had a better launch. That run was definately weird because of the low MPH. My other lowest trap that night was 106, so yeah, shouldnt have let off that run and I would have had a 12.

Its my friend's 1988 300zx non turbo he converted to turbo. I went with him when he bought it like 2 years ago... haha. Its got a 60-1 with a P trim t4 exhaust wheel in the stock T3 housing. He was pushing 18-19 psi. 3" exhaust, SPEC 3 clutch, ~ 400 hp. The car weighs 3200 lbs, its a heavy one.

Due to the laggy a-- turbo, he can never get out of the hole. Thats the worst run hes done in a long time, earlier he did 13.2 @ 113 with a 2.4 60'

He's got a nitrous kit and he's buying slicks, it'll be damn close to 11's.

He missed a shift that run.

THe other run was against an early 90's corvette.

I went again.

Only got one run, leaky water pump got me kicked out.

Full tank of gas ( I mean FULLL) with spare tire, jack, etc.

Here it was.

60' 2.184
1/8 8.524
1/4 13.054
MPH 109.48

If only I didnt have a full tank of gas at the time...

Weighed the car again with no gas at all, no spare tire or jack, no driver. 2560 lbs. I do have full interior and added weight though, so you'll have that.

This pass was on 91 octane pump gas.

Well, I ordered a bunch of parts to build a new turbo kit.

This one will be going up for sale shortly. I suppose it is for sale right now, just need to pull it off.

Anyone with this kit that isnt a full mile above sea level would simply SCREAM!

I will have pics when I remove the kit shortly.

It will include the fuel management (no standalone and 550's though), turbo, pipes, test pipe, etc.

I'm building a race setup as I'm going in a different direction than daily driver, but not quite drag.

Those numbers suck considering an 88 maxima wikthn the same engine fwd can do around 15 with a 3rd gen maxima transmission... if hes using the vg30 engine that one sucks for turbo..only the vg30et is the one that sorta worth it..imo 220 hpo with the stuck turbo sucks...

No way in hell at this elevation would a maxima ever do that. Dont forget, I am a mile above sea level.

Trust me, cars run SLOW times here

His car is much faster than the mx3, but I can launch a lot better. He's got a tad under 400 rwhp, the car weighs 3100 lbs no driver.
